Esther becomes queen of Persia. But there is trouble when Mordecai refuses to bow down to Haman, the king's royal advisor. Haman hatches a diabolical plan to destroy Mordecai and all of the Jewish people. In the meantime, Mordecai overhears a plot to kill the king and lets Esther know, and she tells the king, and those who were plotting were killed. Mordecai learns of Haman's plot to destroy all the Jews and tells Esther. Haman tricked the king into giving him permission to wipe out all the Jewish people. Mordecai tells Esther the evil plan to kill all of the Jews. Esther knows that if she goes into the king uninvited, she could be killed. Esther then tells Mordecai to gather the Jewish people and fast and pray for 3 days. She goes to see the king, and he welcomes her. Esther then invites both the king and Haman to a feast. At the feast, the king asks Esther what she wants, but Esther said, 'Please come tomorrow and I will tell you.' That night, the king could not sleep, so he had the royal records read to him. The king learns that it was Mordecai who gave the warning about the plot to kill the king. He asks what has been done to honor Mordecai, and they said nothing. That same evening, Haman was so angry about Mordecai that he built a pole to kill Mordecai on. In the morning, Haman came to ask the king for permission to punish Mordecai, but before he could speak, the king asked Haman what he would do to honor someone he wanted to honor. Haman thought the king wanted to honor him, but the king wanted to honor Haman's most hated enemy. He was required to put the king's royal coat on Mordecai and parade him around the city on the king's horse. Haman became even more angry. The feast that Esther had prepared was ready, and the king and Haman came to eat. The king asked Esther what she wanted. Esther said she wanted him to spare her life and the life of her people and then pointed to Haman as the one who wanted it done. The king is furious and orders Haman to be killed on the pole that he made for Mordecai. Mordecai was made the new royal advisor and was allowed to warn the Jews that they could fight back. God gave the victory.
